Hi there –

I am testing the pros/cons between Easy Digital Downloads and your WordPress Download Manager. Right now I am in the free versions for both during this testing phase. While testing the paid downloads portion of WPDM, I cannot find any place for me to setup any sort of payment gateway. I plan on using my PayPal Business Standard account or Stripe, whichever is easier to setup, to handle paid downloads. Easy Digital Downloads provides the PayPal Standard gateway bundled with their free download, so I am assuming that WPDM does as well (in order to remain competitive), but I can’t find it. I’m sure it’s something I am missing. Please point me in the right direction so that I can continue testing your features before making a decision.

Thanks!

Hi,
Please download and install this add-on too http://www.wpdownloadmanager.com/download/premium-package-wordpress-digital-store-solution/
Then you will be able to set price and configure payment option

On activation of “WPDM – Premium Packages” plugin you will get a option to add settings.
Go to wp-admin->Download->settings-> Premium Package-> Payment Options -> Paypal Pro (active and set your credentials)-> save

Thank you.

This was so helpful! I was a little confused with the instructions to go to “wp-admin” since I read that as going to my WordPress Admin section, but I stumbled through it. For anyone else reading this, it’s:

Downloads > Settings > Click the Premium Package tab on the left

Then click through the tabs along the top to make sure you’re set up properly.

I will say that the “Premium Package” tab on the Downloads Manager Settings screen made me think it was an advertisement for premium packages rather than the payment gateway setup. Maybe something more clear would help there?

Either way, thanks again for the help on this. So far I am preferring WPDM over Easy Digital Downloads in just about every category! I’ll do a full blog post on it once I make a decision and I’ll definitely include how helpful support was as a free customer.

“Premium Package” converts to store. Please go to downloads-> all files/ add new -> Package Settings, you will get the options for adding prices and discounts.

Hopefully I could help you.
Thanks for your co-operation.

I use WordPress Download Manager and Premium Packages Plugin. When someone pays with PayPal, it goes to PayPal, takes payment fine, but when it returns to my website, the green bar stays stuck on “Completing Order” and it never actually lets the customer download his package. I notice that the Order Status and Payment is stuck on Processing – and it never completes. I am using PayPal Smart Button and have copied my live Client ID and Secret into the PayPal configuration on Premium Packages plugin. Please help.

This is the free version, not pro. I want to make sure this works before I buy Pro.

I just switched from PayPal Smart Buttons to IPN and it does the same problem. On test payment rather than using PayPal, it works. So the issue is definitely the way Premium Packages works with PayPal. Again, I’m using the free version. I’ll buy pro if you can prove to me that pro fixes this bug.
