Package Featured Image doesn't show in New Posts?

Hi there, as you will know from this question (probably), I’m new to your plugin, WPDM free (thank you for making it free!). My goal is to make a WP post with a large image of a graphic to download for free, with a download button.

So far the way I have been able to do that is to

• make a package through Downloads/Add New
• add the packet to a New Post with the Download Manager
• insert image into the Post

My question is, is this the best way to do this? I feel like if I add a Featured Image to the Package, that it should show when I add the Package to a New Post, but it does not (which is why I’ve been adding an image to the Post myself).

Is that because the Page Templates that come with the free version don’t bring the Featured Image of the package through to the New Post page? (or should they, but my theme (Semplice by Sculpture Qode) doesn’t function with that?)

Note: if I add a Featured Image to the the Package and then View the Package (not the Post), the Featured Image shows nicely, with a table and download info.
