Multiple downloads of files from the same external user

Why would somebody want to do download the same set of files over and over, I have 5 downloadable files on my page which suddenly have been downloaded 1500 times in the last month or so, can somebody tell me why this would be happening please,

I understand I can block IP etc. but I’m more concerned about why they would be doing this in the first place.

Automated Bots or Scripts might be the reason behind it.Some bots crawl the internet and download files for data collection, analysis, or malicious purposes (e.g., trying to find vulnerabilities).

To help prevent automated bots from downloading your files, you can implement a reCAPTCHA lock. This adds an extra layer of verification to ensure that only real users can access the downloads.
