MS Word Files Are Corrupt on Download

My Microsoft Word Files are corrupt on download. I receive the message that says the document “uses a file type that is blocked from opening in this version.” I have the latest version of Word and have done all of the updates. When I downloaded the files via FTP I am able to open each word document just fine (I also test this on other computers). This error only pops up when attempting to download a file through the website. I’ve tried multiple browsers, renaming files, deleting and re-uploading.
