Login page overrides wp-admin login

Hello,

I’ve temporarily overridden my login page for my site (I do not want my users to login, temporarily). I’ve removed the login shortcode from the public facing login page. However, the login page setting looks to redirect the admin login URL /wp-login.php, so admin users cannot login to the backend. Is this intentional behavior? How can I allow admin access while prohibiting public user login? I’ve had to deactivate the plugin in the meantime to access the backend. This doesn’t seem correct. Thanks for any insight you can provide.
