Hi guys
Sorry for such noob questions, but I’m lost
– do themes replace all WP installation and cannot be integrated into WP theme that is already active?
– cannot get it (shortcode?) to show all files sorted in categories on one page
– search results are not sorted per category .. just a list of files

You just need to install and activate wpdm, no theme change is required. Please watch the following video created by our user, you will get a clear idea on how to use wpdm:
