How to only record live site, not staging site

We have a staging site in place and the plugin is recording downloads on the staging site…when the staging site is pushed out live, it is replacing the live site stats. Is there a way to have the history ONLY recording the public site? Thanks!

Are you meaning the public site to live site, please elaborate more on your issue
