How can I make downloads open in a new tab? - WordPress Download Manager

I would like my downloads to open the document in a new tab by default if possible…is there something in the shortcode I can use to accomplish this so that it does not just immediately begin downloading the file?

I tried using html code and adding the target=”_blank” but this still opens a tab and downloads the file, is there not a way to view the file in the browser?
