OP

My sites have auto-updated to 3.3.47 (and some already 3.3.48) and there are significant front-end issues for the sites where I am using custom Link Templates.

Icons have disappeared. (Adding a specific height to the img in my theme CSS corrected this.)

Font size is fixed at 14px, overriding my theme. (Adding a more specific font-size to corrects this.)

I’ve fixed one site manually, but I have a number of other sites that also don’t look right. Just wanted to report this. Thank you.

Hello,

Thanks for reaching out.

We introduced improvements to the front-end UI in version 3.3.47. Could you please share the URL where you are encountering the CSS issue?

Please note that if you applied custom CSS directly, it may be affected after an update. We recommend keeping your custom CSS saved separately, or using templating, which is the best and safest option to avoid losing customizations during updates.
Looking forward to your response.

Regards

Tahasin, thank you for the quick reply!

I’ve been using this plugin on many sites for around 10 years. No two sites are the same, but I have several with custom Link Templates, and all my CSS is in a child theme.

I’m still checking sites. Of the ones I’ve checked, any instance of [icon] in my custom link template results in either the image not showing, or the image filling up 100% of the container. If I add CSS to apply a specific width or height to the img, it then is correct again. I’ve not had to add a style to the icon img previously.

The “.w3eden a” style is now applying var(–color_primary), which is overriding the font color declared in my theme. I do not want to have to go into your UI to specify the same colors that are already present in the theme. For the one site that I’ve fixed, I just applied more specific CSS to override your override. (If this was already the case previously, I’m not sure, but today’s update has caused the changes we are seeing on the sites.)

A couple of examples that I’ve found that I haven’t fixed yet:

https://hillindale.com/rules-forms/ (icons for each item are missing)

https://townofnewpoint.com/government/town-council/ (icons in the Meeting Minutes section are huge)

The page that I fixed:

https://holyfamilyoldenburg.com/about/forms/ (added more specific CSS for font size, link color, and a height on the image)

There are only 3 of the ~25 sites we have running the plugin. Some aren’t affected as much as others, but I haven’t checked them all yet.

Thank you.

For icon fix, add the following CSS in your theme customizer’s custom styles:

.w3eden .wpdm_icon,
.w3eden .img-48{
    width: 48px !important;
    height: auto;
}

You can select WPDM’s color from WPDM’s user interface settings; there, you can select the same color as your theme’s color accent.

Thank you for the reply.

I know how to fix it – and have done so over a dozen times so far. I’m actually working on it right now, during the time you were composing your reply.

Some of my sites did have custom widths set, but for those that didn’t they all of sudden stopped displaying the icons today.

I do not wish to use a UI that overrides my theme. I’m applying more specific CSS instead, for link color, button color, etc. because there were a few sites that had multiple styling issues introduced with this update.

Is there a way to opt out of the UI styles? I’m trying to be as specific as possible to hopefully prevent this from happening again but it would be preferred to just turn the WPDM styles off completely, allowing my theme styles to apply to all content.
