File Download Issues. Have to Force Refresh Browser to Start Download.

First off, thank you for your wonderful plugin!

I’m having issues when I click the “download” link for any of my downloadable files. All files display correctly on the page where I use the shortcode but when I click “download” it redirects to the linked file page (ex: http://www.mydomainhere.com/?wpdmdl=7680) and nothing happens. Only when I force a page reload in my browser’s address bar by pressing the return key does it actually download. Once it finishes downloading I do not get redirected to a different page. It just stays on the blank linked file page. I’ve tried disabling resumable downloads and output buffering individually and together with no change.

Ideally I would love a fix that allows the download to begin immediately instead of having to force refresh the page.

I use a mac and have tried to download files with Safari, Firefox and Chrome, all with the same outcome. I am using Download Manager Free (Version 2.7.88) in WordPress 4.1.1 running the theme Elision (Version 2.0).
