email request

Hi there,
Is it possible to request email ID from general public prior to downloading a file? so I could keep tract of who has taken the download. I need not having to request subscription to my site prior to downloading. At present all downloadable files are within a secured area however once the user has enter that area, a have no way of identifying what exactly they have downloaded.
