Categories Parameter: Include Subcategories by Default?

Hello,

So, we have large library where categories change frequently (added, removed, etc.). It would be very helpful if we could just assign the parent category and have it automatically pull in all the subcategories, that way it automatically updates what is pulled in, instead of having to manually add/remove categories all the time where we have dozens to 100+ categories at times.

Is there a workaround currently for this? Should it be a feature request? I have gone through the docs and don’t see a parameter, but wondering if there’s a filter we can add in functions.php, etc. that could do the trick?

(BTW, we have a Pro license, but it’s not attached to my account so I am having to ask here.)
