altering embed code

Hi – does anyone know if it’s possible to alter the auto generated embed code for downloads?

Ideally, what I’d like to do is just have a page with a series of link labels, with each label giving the description of the download package. This is fine if viewing the site as a visitor, but when editing the page, all the labels just show as the embed code. This could obviously get a bit confusing if there are several downloads on a single page.
