Dear Support-Team,
We uninstalled the download manager Plugin some month before. For all download files which existed in the folder “/wp-content/uploads/download-manager-files” we have set a 301 Redirect. After that we deleted the folder from our server.
But daily, our Google Search Console recognizes URLs which consist of the “old download Manager URL” plus e. g. “?wpdmdl=14293&refresh=63396a35e780d1664707125”. The ids after wpdmdl and refresh are always new one. Due to this we get daily new URLs which causes 404 errors.
We always set new 301 Redirects to these generated URLs. But that cannot be the solution because it wastes a lot of time. When we do nothing the Google Search Console is trashed with 404 errors.
Why does that happen and how can we avoid this behavior?
I would be glad for a solution.
Warm regards,
Kathleen
Hello Kathleen,
Hope you are well. Thanks for writing to us. I have back information from our team developer that, refresh parameter doesn’t cause 404 error
, It is an optional parameter. You can also skip download url from google index by applying Mask Download Link from settings. Please kindly check and let me know.
Thank you and kind regards
Hello Nayeem,
Thanks for your support. How can I apply Mask Download Link from settings? Do you mean Regex Redirects?
Best regards,
Kathleen
But we have uninstalled the plugin and don’t want to install it again.
Why are these URLs still generated although we have uninstalled the download manager plugin for months.
In the last three days the following URLs are generated and causing 404 error:
https://www.example.de/download/pdf-file-1/?wpdmdl=14399&refresh=64069b77b7d481678154615
https://www.example.de/download/pdf-file-2/?wpdmdl=14477&refresh=62ed7854d30e81659730004
https://www.example.de/download/pdf-file-3/?wpdmdl=14404&refresh=62ed7854da9221659730004
https://www.example.de/download/pdf-file-4/?wpdmdl=14431&refresh=62ed7854dc86c1659730004
https://www.example.de/download/pdf-file-5/?wpdmdl=16688&refresh=61bef8b828d381639905464
That is so curious!
If you don’t want to use WPDM, then you can delete the database tables too from your database. Please kindly check and let me know, if you have any queries.
Thank you and kind regards
