Ok, thanks. That is good to know. I still have a couple remaining issues. The PDF is working, but not the Google-format document.

When I am entirely logged out of Google myself, and using a Chrome “incognito” window for extra assurance to replicate my end user’s experience as closely as possible, I get a 404 error on a Google-format document that is set to “Anyone with the link can view”.

I am still unclear on what to expect (will the user get a PDF of the Google doc? or will they be taken to the live document on Drive?) but clearly it should not be a 404 ๐Ÿ™‚

This is my test page: http://members.nrocnetwork.org/resources/download-package/test-gdrive/

The above applies to downloading independently, not as a zip package.

When downloading a zip package archive, I have a different problem: it unzips into a .cpgz file, which unzips into a .cpgz file, ad infinitum. I have reported this error before, and it is now affecting other multi-file packages on my site, not just the Google docs ones.

    Hi Shaon,

Still doesn’t work. Before I go into any details, I absolutely need to get some questions answered about how this is intended to work. I might just be confusing things. I’ve asked these questions several times, and I have never received clear answers.

    1) According to the screenshot at step 14 on http://www.wpdownloadmanager.com/download/google-drive-explorer/ , I should be able to set the permission level to “anyone with the link can view” and it will work. But you said “enable public access” (in your last message in this thread). By Google Drive standards, that’s two different things, and I need to know which one is correct.

    2) Is the add-on designed to handle, IN ANY WAY, documents created in native Google format? I’m not talking about PDFs or Word docs that are uploaded to Drive. I’m talking about documents that were created in native Google formats, such as Docs, Slides, Drawings, etc. For example, will it automatically convert a native Google format file into a PDF which can be downloaded? Or will it link the user directly to a Google format document? Or will it fail? (Clearly it’s possible to link to a native Google format file, but I’m trying to determine what the expected outcome is when a user tries to download it.)

    Instead of [gallery_WxH] , please use [thumb_gallery_WxH]
I found [download_link_popup] is working fine, if you apply lock option, those will be displayed in a popup when you click on [download_link_popup]
[customer_download_link] will return premium item download url for customers who purchased it, please give me an url where you trying this.

    This link for example:
    http://protiumdesign.com/thousand-material-design-icons/

But this very very old files still working:
    http://protiumdesign.com/matrix-dark-cubes/

I paid for and installed the “Download Period” add-on for WPDM Pro. When I use the “Allow current user access to packages created within above date range” option for a user it does block the main download link for the package. But it DOES NOT block the individual file download link buttons within a package. The only way to fix this is to turn on “Disable Single File Download” in WPDM’s main settings. Can this be fixed?

Now fallback is required, you can use <a href="[download_url]">[link_label]</a> in link template and use it for all public downloads

In reply to: Caching Download Files

    If you go to http://www.webpagetest.org/
and put the download link of a pdf file, foe example:

    http://coptic-treasures.com/wp/download/%d9%85%d8%b2%d9%85%d9%88%d8%b1-129-%d9%85%d9%83%d8%b3%d9%8a%d9%85%d9%88%d8%b3-%d8%b5%d9%85%d9%88%d8%a6%d9%8a%d9%84-pdf/?wpdmdl=29178

    then run the test,

test Results then details, then click on the link, you will get a popup window.

go to “Response”, you will find:

    Cache-Control: no-cache, must-revalidate, max-age=0

I tried every possible way to put pdf files into the .htaccess to control this but could not.

is there something that i should do to change this to a cacheable item?

    thanks

    Hi,

Yes you are right. AMP removes Java.

However, the AMP files are automiatically generated, and I dont have control on each individual file to do so.

Would there be a way to specify a “fallback” for the download link to reflect the suggestion you said above? that way, if the amp page is shown, then the fallback link shows?

    thanks

    Hello,

we bought your download manager pro plugin. When using the advanced search function we wanted to change the search result page and the link template. While looking at the php code I found that you use the link-template-default.php but when altering this php file nothing changes.
So is there an easy way to find what templates are used ? link templates and page templates.

    Thanks in advance

This is because amp removed javascript from the link, so, for amp create a link template using <a href="[download_url]">[link_label]</a>instead of [download_link]

    Hello,

I am trying to sort files within a category in a tree. Please advise.

The below sorts the categories but not the files within the categories.

    [wpdm_tree category=”default-list” download_link=”1″ order=”desc”]

    HI,
I am just wondering whether Download Manager will support the new technology, Google AMP?
    https://www.ampproject.org/

Currently there is a WordPress plugin to generate amp pages to Google standard, however, when I installed it, the download link did not work.

What happens when I click on the word “download” is that the symbol “#” gets added to the url.
    example:
    http://mysite.com/amp/#
this is because of how the download link is protected in the Download Manager design.

Will there be support for AMP in the future releases of Download Manager?
    Thank you very much

Aha! I hadn’t set up the email template, yet. I knew it was something easy that I was overlooking. Thank you.

So is there a way to turn off the file link being sent to their email? I’m trying to keep files from being shared around the web without someone providing their email in order to download the file. Ideally, they provide their email, the file immediately downloads, and no email is sent with the link. Otherwise, one person signs up and then forwards the email to whoever they want – then anyone with that link can download the file without submitting their email. Thanks.

    And great plugin!

Hi, just bought Download Manager Pro and Mailchimp Subscriber add-on. Synced up Mailchimp account. Uploaded new file. Added Enable Email Lock and initially set to Download Instantly. That worked fine. Then changed it to Mail Download Link. The email was sent, but no file was attached. This happened multiple times. Any idea what’s going on?

    Ok Shaon… 2 steps forward, 1 step back…. ๐Ÿ˜›

    So here’s what I did:

    1) back up v4.5.3
    2) delete 4.5.3 and reinstall manually
    3) activate
    4) go to Downloads Settings Updates and click the green button: Success!
    5) check a few existing items and all are good

This means that the patch for whitespace prevention is working, and so are my paid customizations – That’s 2 steps forward. ๐Ÿ™‚

So now to test the Google Drive situation at http://members.nrocnetwork.org/resources/download/canvas-english-test/

    1) test the one PDF that was already in there from Google Drive.
1.a) download JUST the one file — It works. I can download and open it.
1.b) use the big download button for the zip file — the file has the right name (e.g., PAGETITLE.zip), but it unpacks to something with a .zip.cpgz extension, which is just some other kind of compressed file, which opens to create another compressed file, etc….so that’s a fail.

Maybe because there’s only one file?

    2) add a second file to this package (from Drive) — this one is a Google Doc, not a PDF. (Why am I trying this? Because I still don’t know from all the descriptions I’ve read, whether this plugin can handle a g-docs formatted file, or if it only works with things like PDF and Word docs. Can you please tell me? If it won’t, I will stop testing that. Thx)
2.a) each one now gives the file_not_found.txt when I try to download it, so even the PDF isn’t working anymore.
2.b) same problem with the zip’d archive: it downloads as a .zip, which unpacks to a .zip.cpgz, which unpacks to a .zip.cpgz, etc.

So I figure, let’s scrap everything and try again. Delete all files I’ve tested with, and click “update”.

    3) Select 3 files from Drive: 2 PDFs and 1 MS Word.
3.a) each one individually gives the file_not_found.txt when I try to download.
3.b) the archive downloads as a .zip, which unpacks to a .zip.cpgz, which unpacks to a .zip.cpgz, etc.

One last-ditch effort: I thought maybe the files I’m trying to upload aren’t “public” enough. So I uploaded a test PDF to drive and made sure it was public. Same exact issues as above.

So basically, I am STILL unable to use the Google Drive add-on. We’re getting close to launch and I’m getting worried. ๐Ÿ™

Aside from just getting it to work, I have two hanging questions:

    1) Is this addon designed to handle Google Docs formatted items (Docs, Sheets, Slides, etc), or just uploaded items (PDF, PPT, Word, Excel, etc)?
    2) Does the item have to be fully “public” (“anyone on the web can find and access”) or can it be semi-public (“anyone with the link can view”)?

Thanks in advance. I know you’ve got a lot going on here and I appreciate your help.

Hi, the update seems to have changed this… It’s throwing up a lot of these:

    [file_size] [download_count] downloads
    Published: [create_date]
