This plugin seems promising so I’m hoping someone can tell me if WPDM will work for my needs. (free or pro) Here’s what I am trying to accomplish without any custom programming. (I realize other plugins may be necessary such as a membership or social networking plugin, but I just need to know if it’s worth moving forward on this plugin)

Mandatory: I would like to have a membership site that enables users to have their own specific page where they can view the list of files they have uploaded. They can also download these files as well. I want this all done from the front end. At no time do I want any user visiting the WordPress backend admin area. I would also need support for extensions such as .zip, .rar, .pdf, office files, image files, media files, etc.

Optional, but desirable: I would like each user to have the ability to make any file they upload public or private. If public, the file would be available in a general public category driven file repository. If made private, it would only be visible by the logged in individual when he is logged in. (and if I use the right membership plugin, perhaps the user can make this download list available to friends as well)

Based on that info, do you think WPDM is the right solution for my needs?

Thanks,
Sel

yes, wpdm right and probably best compatible solution for you, but still may need 3-4 hours of customization.
