Hi. I am new to WordPress and the Downloads Manager plugin so excuse me if my questions are uninformed. WordPress is runing under Microsoft Server 2016 (IIS). I have thousands of media files that I want to make available for selected users to view, use and download. The files are located on a specific fileserver different form the web server
organized under media types, directories and sub categories and are all available on the LAN through windows shares (SMBs). I can not find out how to make these files available for download in the File manager after having searched extensively for a recipe on how to include the SMB directory/file structure. I do not want to move the files and was hoping that the download manager somehow was able to access them directly and provide tools for browsing them, select directories or single files and provide management of the actual download. Can someone point me in the right direction? Either through a step by step tutorial or documentation with examples?
On thought I had was to enable WEBDAV in the Windows Server 2016 and mount the SMBs of interest as network drives on the server and make them available through WordPress to obtain user authorization etc
