Hello,

currently we are investigating, if we could use “Download Manager” on our upcoming website. While playing with it and working on our new website, we experience a problem in combination with /wp-admin/theme-editor.php:

When I use /wp-admin/theme-editor.php to edit “style.css” (URL: …/wp-admin/theme-editor.php?file=style.css&theme=xyz) or “functions.php” (URL: …/wp-admin/theme-editor.php?file=functions.php&theme=xyz) everything works fine – i can edit and save the file.

but if i edit a file in a subdirectory like “includes/include-logo.php” (URL: /wp-admin/theme-editor.php?file=includes%2Finclude-logo.php&theme=xyz) or “tribe-events/modules/address.php” (URL: /wp-admin/theme-editor.php?file=tribe-events%2Fmodules%2Faddress.php&theme=xyz) and save it, it takes a while till an error is shown:

Kommunikation mit der Website, um auf fatale Fehler zu prüfen, nicht möglich, daher wurde die PHP-Änderung rückgängig gemacht. Sie werden Ihre veränderte PHP-Datei mit anderen Mitteln hochladen müssen, wie per SFTP.

(translated to english: It was not possible to communicate with the website to check for fatal errors, so the PHP change was undone. You will need to upload your modified PHP file by other means, such as SFTP.)

if i disable the plugin “Download Manager” (Version 2.9.83) everything works fine – i can edit and save even file in subdirectories. if i enable, the problems appear again.

maybe you have an idea, what the problem is?

Thanks for your support and this plugin!

Am experiencing a similar problem – cannot save edits to any theme files in my active theme via the WP Admin Appareance > Editor while Download Manager is activated.

I get the message:

“Something went wrong. Your change may not have been saved. Please try again. There is also a chance that you may need to manually fix and upload the file over http://FTP.”

If I deactivate Download Manager, the edits save fine.

Please respond as it seems to be a bug.

Hi,

I’ve just checked and the lastest version of Download Manager (v4.8.1.1) has been installed but the problem still still persists,

“Something went wrong. Your change may not have been saved. Please try again. There is also a chance that you may need to manually fix and upload the file over http://FTP.”

I can see in the changelog is talks about v2.9.85 having “Fixed the conflict with the wordpress plugin/theme editor”.

Please update as soon as possible.

Hi,
The issue is fixed in wpdm v2.9.85 and wpdm pro v4.9.0
