The one feature we need – a custom modification date

The one feature we are desperate for is an ability to specify our own custom modification date for software packages.
It’s very common that we update the download package entry separately from when we last modified the package files themselves.
Or we may create a new package of an old file and we want to keep the old date.

What we really need to be able to do is override the last_modification_date value for each package with a nice easy-to-set date field within the package editor.

Any chance of this?

Thanks for your consideration!

You may use the following plugin for that:

Hello Shahjada.

Thank you for taking the time to consider the request. The problem with that plugin and the current solution is it involves “abusing” the built-in wordpress methods of keeping track of initial publication date and modification date. I worry about other wordpress consequences of us messing with these values (like no longer being able to really track when a download post/entry was first created or last modified).

It seems to me it would be so much cleaner if download manager would let us specify our own Release Date for an entry. I’m happy to use my own template for pages and download list that uses this date.. I’m just suggesting a new custom date field for each download entry.. we can be responsible for using it on the templates.

Thanks for your consideration!
