Hi

Hoping someone can help me with a difficulty. I want to have packages in various categories listed on a page, but not packages that are in another category.

Let me explain. I have two parent categories : SoftwareA and SoftwareB. Each parent category has several sub-categories, e.g. Windows, Linux etc. I have the packages from all sub-categories of SoftwareA currently visible on a page by use of shortcode :

[wpdm_all_packages items_per_page="5" categories="windows, linux, osx, beta-versions" jstable=1 order_by="date" order="DESC"]

However, I have created a new PARENT category called “Archives” and I have edited each older package that is not current and changed its category to “Archives”. But it’s original sub-category remains assigned to it. So whereas it may have been in ‘Linux’, it’s now in both ‘Linux’ and ‘Archives’, so it’s still showing on the page. But I wanted to achieve was for them to no longer appear on my main page.

How can I make it so that the items I have categorised in “Archives” is not listed with shortcode wpdm_all_packages ? The screenshot explains – all the ones marked ‘archives’, I want to not show.

Hi,

You can just uncheck the certain category from the packages that you want to put into “Archives” category. As you don’t want to show them on this page.

Or have you created the same name “category slug” under the “Archives” parent category, and selected them, and they still showing? Then, If you keep category slug same then it might be showing.

Thanks

OK, thanks.

I’ve had to uncategorise all the old versions and have them re-categorised in only ‘archives’ to achieve this, but yes, that has now worked in that now I only see the categorised ones and all the old ones that are in archives I have created a new shortcode on a new page and hyperlinked to it. The only problem is that they are now uncategorised other than being in the ‘archives’ category. But it doesn’t really matter – nobody is going to look there very often and they can use the name to find what they seek.
