So did you de-activate it on the network and then things started to work?
Am just curious to know why it was working on the live site but, after cloning, stopped working on the staging site.
I’ve also noted that on the staging site:
– When adding a new file, the SELECT FILES button does not work.
– When clicking CATEGORIES to go manage categories, the existing categories do not display
– If you click NEW CATEGORY it shows the categories in the dropdown box. Trying to create a new category does not work though.
… but all three work fine on the live site from which the staging site was cloned.
OK, have sorted this and am busy adjusting the files again … nothing for you to do on this one for now!
I edited the file in the theme sub-folder ‘package-settings-front.php’ to:
– Remove the Browse & URL tabs
– Remove the package options that appear after ‘Version’
Regarding: Remove the Browse & URL tabs:
– I removed the
statements at the start of that file. These statements are still deleted (as I wanted) but for some reason the Browse & URL tabs display again (not what I wanted).
Regarding: Remove the package options that appear after ‘Version’
– These were deleted this morning, did not display thereafter, and continue to not appear (which is as I want it)
But how can the Browse & URL tabs re-appear?
I have tried clearing the cache but nothing changes it.
Did you just change a whole bunch of files in the theme folder? All the edits I did this morning have just vanished.
Thanks for the reply and helpful direction to the various files to edit, I will tackle that over the weekend.
Two issues:
——————————————–
FIRSTLY:
Re. your reply to point 1:
“1. When you click on delete button, it is added to a queue to delete on update, and the circular arrow icon is to undo/remove it from delete queue, the file actually will be unattached from the list when you update the package.”
My experience of this delete function is:
– If you click the X it shows a red header, you then click Create Package to update the package but the file remains visible, it does not disappear from the list.
– If you exit the package and re-load it then it appears to have been deleted.
– But for a non-techie frontend user it is not intuitive to still display the file after it has been deleted by clicking to Create Package.
– Should it not disappear from view after you click the Create Package button rather than require re-loading of the whole package?
——————–
Secondly:
I would like to also hide the new PASSWORD boxes … where would I do that?
——————–
Many thanks.
Thanks for getting that working.
Some issues from above that still need resolving plus one new one that appeared from testing:
(1) If I add a file to a file package and then try to delete it, the red X in the top right corner for that file changes to a symbol of circular arrows but does not delete the file. I have tried updating the package after clicking the X but the file remains in the package.
(2) The edit in the theme folder you indicated … the question I asked is whether files are stored by you in the theme folder along the lines of how a child theme works, so I could edit such files without losing such edits on the average plugin update?
(3) Where do I edit to hide certain page elements on the ADD NEW page:
– The options that appear below the option VERSION, i.e. I want to hide LINK LABEL through to PAGE TEMPLATE
– The two tabs LOCK OPTIONS & ICONS
– The two panels MAIN PREVIEW IMAGE & ADDITIONAL PREVIEW IMAGES
– The SAVE AS DRAFT checkbox
– On the ATTACH FILES panel, hide the BROWSE & URL tabs
… I need a simplified experience for frontend editors and have previously done such edits under your guidance but now files have changed quite a bit.
Can you please respond to each of these before the weekend?
Thanks.
Looks like you fixed the SELECT FILES button for when adding a new file package but not for when you edit an existing one and want to add another file.
In addition to the questions in the post just before this post to which I still need an answer:
– Earlier in this support request you fixed the SELECT FILES button so it now correctly opens a file browser window.
– However, if I drag and drop a file onto the area, it opens the file in the browser rather than uploads it.
Ah, so you now have some files in the theme folder. Is that so that they don’t get over written when you update the plugin files?
In which case, regarding previous edits I did under your guidance to hide various panels on the Add Document page, where do I now edit those?
I’m thinking the many options under the VERSION line, the 2 Image Preview boxes and the Checkbox for draft status.
Thanks.
OK, thanks, have checked and it now works.
– What was the issue?
While here and, seeing you have updated things on the interface quite a bit, can you indicate where I would edit to hide the two tabs ‘Browse’ & ‘URL’ from the Attach Files section. I previously did this but you have changed file structure since.
Thanks.
The page for ADD / MANAGE documents now loads correctly but if you try to add a new document the SELECT FILES button does not work.
Sorry, issue resolved as far as I can see …
Ah, I see, of course, you need to activate the Add Ons site by site,I had forgotten that, many thanks.
So the last thing I can see is the wording that was there & then got taken out at some stage which is to add the words ‘Select Parent Category’ just above the dropdown box of category names in the ‘Create new Category’ dialog box?
Many thanks.
Any progress solving the Multisite aspect? Thanks.
I logged in a user Jeremy Wallis.
I created a new category under Trustees and added a file.
I then cannot view that file on the Docs viewers (I tried the one on the homepage where you click the DOCS icon) and under Tree view (off the DOCS menu link). Neither showed it but if I go to the place where you add new documents it shows the file.
