Download fails except in "Preview Changes" mode

Since I updated to 2.9.71 my downloads only work in “Preview Changes” mode.
When I try to get my download, I check the CAPTCHA box but the file does not start downloading.
When in “Preview Changes” mode, after checking the CAPTCHA box the file starts downloading right away.

It’s definitely something to do with the CAPTCHA functionality. I created a new download of the same file without the CAPTCHA turned on, and it worked just fine.

Seems like there is a problem with captcha. Try to reconfigure the captcha again. Else send login in private reply to check the issue.

I don’t know what you did, or what WP did, but it’s working just fine now.
