Hi,

I’m not using the free version, but an (last month) expired pro version.
So i’m just going to ask my question and hope for the best.

So yea the problem is that I can’t download files any longer. I get these weird characters on my screen:
%PDF-1.5 %쏢 5 0 obj <> stream xZY7~_oҎ϶Q” %da/`$>v_.3F HL.WCfozqC7C~ꇽj*7pZ+YUSYo6’ۧ;FVTlvh}՜F) ͋[i]h߂C2~QktqW3¹T)hN,gi

ETC ETC

See screenshot for the rest of the errors.

Do you have any idea what could be the problem? I’m Running download manager 4.4.0 and wordpress 4.4.2

Thanks in advance!

Ronny

It may happen if any recently installed plugin generating unexpected output on start. Please give me temporary wp-admin login info in a private reply to check your issue.

So I finally found out what plugin was messing with the downloads.
Because of WP Super Cache I couldn’t download files anymore. Its disabled now.
DO you know if there are settings in that addon which mess with the download manager?
I’d like to enable it again.

There is nothing to do in Download Manager plugin.
You can try using w3 total cache http://wordpress.org/plugins/w3-total-cache/ instead
Thank you

I had a similar problem, and I found a solution to this problem on the thread at
https://wordpress.org/support/topic/weird-chars-instead-of-download-pdf-file/

basically add

\?wpdmdl.*

to the list of url strings that force a page not to be cached in Super Cache settings.

There is a how-to about making these kind of exceptions at…
